  • Hill Country Tunes - Instrumental Folk Music of Southwestern Pennsylvania
Former FSFA President, Chuck Levy, has donated this downloadable (.PDF format) collection of Hill Country Tunes - Instrumental Folk Music of Southwestern Pennsylvania, collected and edited by Samuel Preston Bayard.  This collection was generously put in a .PDF format by Chuck’s friend Andrea Ardito, the soul of old-time music in Columbus, Ohio.  Andrea got her copy of the book from Ken Bloom.  It includes sheet music for fiddle tunes, extensive introductory notes and tune descriptions, as well as biographies of the musicians and photographs.  Of particular interest is information about Sarah Armstrong, the apparent source for the tune that bears her name (also known as “Old Tar Heel”.  Thanks, Chuck, for your valuable contribution.
