THE HAL JOHNSON &
TIM HAYES TEAM
Tim is a life-long resident of Gadsden County. He and Hal first met in 1988 when Hal was working to start a new Jaycee chapter in Quincy Florida. Tim was a reference from the Gadsden County Chamber of Commerce as a potentially strong leader. When Hal explained the Jaycee concept of Leadership Training through Community Service, Tim quickly agreed to help out. After the Quincy chapter was chartered, Hal and Tim worked together to start additional chapters in Havana, Chattahoochee and Sneads. Tim ultimately held several local offices, and continued to work with Hal to start new chapters in small communities from the Apalachicola River to the Suwannee River.
After they “aged out” of Jaycees (max age 39 years), Hal and Tim remained great friends. Tim was a major contributor to a concrete curbing business that Hal started in the 1990s.
Tim was the Best Man at Hal’s wedding in 2004; Hal and his wife Marion were Best Man and Matron of Honor at Tim and Marie’s wedding. The four of them often go camping together – usually at various state parks in the big bend and panhandle area.
Although Hal and Tim have differing opinions on a number of issues, they have remained best friends for 30 years because they know how to listen and discuss the issues with respect. They know how to compromise and move forward. We decided that our experiences and friendship could serve as a model for the way the Governor’s office should be run – NON-PARTISAN LEADERSHIP.
