Political Appointments
The Florida governor has the responsibility to make appointments to numerous commissions and other bodies. Our procedure for all of these appointments would be to find the best qualified person to fill the position, without regard to political affiliation. This is especially important for positions that are explicitly intended to be non-partisan such as judgeships.
I will ensure that the judicial nominating commission provides me with the names of several candidates with a strong character, and an extensive background in law – preferably both as a defense attorney and prosecuting attorney.
