George Washington prayed at St. Paul's Chapel of Trinity Church on his first day as President of the United States, and the location is marked with a brass plaque. He was a regular worshipper at St. Paul's while he was President. His pew is still intact in the church.
The SC State Guard mission to New York was in conjunction with and was sponsored by the Episcopal Curch of the Advent, Spartanburg, SC. The current Rector of St. Paul's Chapel is Rev. Lyndon Harris, formerly of the Church of the Advent Spartanburg, and a native of South Carolina.

4      St Paul's Chapel at Broadway and Fulton Streets was not damaged during the fall of the World Trade Centers buildings. In an earlier photo the WTC Buldings #1 and #2 are also visible in the background. The back of the chapel, the cemetery, borders Ground Zero.
A recent Episcopal article about the changed circumstances of the church is at http://www.episcopalchurch.org/ens/2001-353.html. Katherine Avery and Church of the Advent Spartanburg are mentioned.
To see the St Paul's photo gallery including some outstanding photos of the chapel during and right after the WTC towers collapse, Go to http://www.saintpaulschapel.org/video/video.html and click on the link "St. Paul's Chapel at Broadway and Fulton Street."
5 The back of St Paul's Chapel did not receive damage during the WTC buildings' collapse. The cemetery was showered with debris, dust, trees were damaged, grass destroyed, but there was no damage to the Chapel--not even one broken window pane, which says something about blown glass from the 1700s.

Fireman Axl Stierle is from Echterdingen, Germany. He volunteered his time from his vacation to come over at his own expense to work at Ground Zero in support of the many victims and the families and remaining policemen and firemen of New York City.

The large signboard at the entrance proclaims "Rescue Workers Only/ We are not presently open to the public. Our ministry right now is to all of the courageous relief workers who are working at Ground Zero. We will be welcoming the public back to St. Paul's as soon as possible." Edge and Cash are both 2nd Brigade Chaplains, there to greet and offer comfort, as well as friendly security at the entrance.
