Tallahassee Autocross Site

The Dixie Region holds its monthly autocrosses on the abandoned parking lot at the old Tallahassee airport terminal building.

This is located on Capital Circle SW about a half-mile northwest of the main terminal entrance and due north of the general-aviation area.

This map, suitable for use by course designers, shows various features of the site that impact course layout. The old light poles are in dark red-brown, trees along one fence are in green, the solid lines are usually fences, and curbs are dotted lines. The marks in gold are some of the survey marks painted on the pavement that I use as grid references when mapping the site. The site consists of an old asphalt surface and has a number of fixed obstacles (light poles), but it is big enough for 50 second courses and located where noise is not a problem.

Sample Courses

These course maps are typically about 1000x600 and 16-30 kb in size. Some past courses at the airport site:

Allies -vs- Axis, December 1998, set by J.K. Jackson (the "white course")

course from April 1998, set by Karl Rickert

course from June 1997, set by Jim Carr
(we no longer start from the south end because of parking conflicts with tenant in old terminal building)

my first course, April 1996.

Allies -vs- Axis, December 1995, set by J.K. Jackson (the "blue course")

course from November 1994, set by Rob Ippolito (scale only approximate)

Last updated circa August 2000 by Jim Carr, who autocrosses his Miata in C Stock.
