Mississippi State is the 2021 NCAA Champion, taking 2 out of 3 from defending champ
Vanderbilt. This is the first championship for Mississippi State
in ANY team sport.
Mississippi State advances by taking two from Texas, while Vanderbilt advances
because NC State could not play the final elimination game due to a COVID-19
positive test that quarantined their team.
Virginia got sent home by Texas, in a rain-delayed game that started at 10:45 pm.
Stanford gets sent home by Vanderbilt because of a walk-off wild pitch.
Arizona goes 0-2 and BBQ with a 14-5 loss, giving up 20 hits against Stanford,
to be the first team eliminated. Tennessee joins them as Texas sends them home 0-2.
First round games are complete. Miss.St pitchers combined for 21 Ks against Texas.
The standings are organized to reflect the fact that
we have, in effect, a structure identical to a pair of regionals
feeding into a best 2-of-3 super regional for the championship.
The seeding numbers indicate the national seeding of the team in
each of the original regional pairs. For details of how these teams
got here, visit my regional results page.
Standings are being reordered to reflect results.
I have changed what I put under "seed" column now that we are starting
a new decade where the top 16 teams are seeded. I no longer use the "N" to
indicate one of the top 8 national seeds. Instead, the first number
indicates which Super Regional the team came from and the second number
(if any) is the national seeding of that team.

Records are from after the Super Regionals, before CWS.
Only the Collegiate Baseball poll was updated after the regionals, on 6/8 and on 6/15.
Baseball America has not updated its poll since 5/31, the end of the regular season
and conference tournaments.
NOTE: Arkansas fell from #1 to #9 in the Collegiate Baseball poll, a poll where
they have traditionally put only CWS teams in the top 8 in the poll after the
Super Regionals end, just as they normally put only Regional champions in the top 16
after the Regionals are over. For example, N.C. State went from #22 to #12 to #7
and Virginia went from unranked to #15 to #8. Other than that, the only notable change
was that Texas moved from #4 to #2 after sweeping unranked South Florida while
Mississippi St stayed at #3 as a result of struggling against Notre Dame.
You can decide for yourselves whether the pollsters actually think that Arkansas
would lose a 3-game series to unranked Virginia.
The ranking
produced by Boyd Nation before regional play (5/31) is
listed under ISR, while that after the Super Regionals (on 6/19) is under ISR'.
