The idea for an auxiliary of the Retired Officers Association was originated by Colonel and Mrs. E. C. Padgett in 1964 at a New Years Eve Party to which they invited several military officers and their wives. It was not until June of 1966 that the auxiliary was officially formed with the installation of a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and two board members.

The initial directory of the TROA Auxiliary was compiled in 1967. It was from the initial directory that the six current LAMOAA members were identified.
