Welcome to our home page

This site is about our Amateur Radio station.

I have included details of our SO2R setup and some additional comments of my own regarding contesting.  My primary interests are Contesting, DXing and 160 Meters.  We work 99.9% CW with an occasional RTTY QSO.

The station is a pair of Ten Tec OMNI VI+ transceivers.  Both rigs have the Inrad 500 cps roofing filter installed.  Amplifiers are a Ten Tec Titan with a pair of 3CX800's and an Amp Supply LK-550LK with three 3-500Z's.  Both amps will run 1500 watts output. ICE Model 419B Band Pass Filters enable SO2R operation.  Keyers are the old but reliable Kansas City Keyer plus a K1EL WinKeyer USB that is used during contests. A Heathkit SB-610 Monitor scope is used to monitor the keying wave form.

Antennas:

Tower # 1 - Mosley TA-53 at 60 feet.  160 Meter dipole, 80 Meter Inverted Vee, 40 Meter Delta loop, 30 Meter Delta Loop.

Tower # 2 - 40 Meter rotary dipole at 73 feet, 80 Meter Delta Loop, 160 Meter Inverted "L"

Receiving Antennas:  160 Meter Shielded Loop, 80 Meter Shielded Loop

Location:

Avon Park, Florida is about 60 miles SE of Tampa and 70 miles South of Orlando. We are located 5 miles NW of the small town of Avon Park.  We have almost one acre of land. We are surrounded by hundreds of acres of citrus groves. Unfortunately the groves are worked year round and putting up beverage antennas for receiving is not possible.
