Capital Canine Puppy Enrichment Program
with Elisabeth Whetstone

This progressive 4 week course is designed to teach new puppy owners how to effectively communicate with their new charge in a manner the puppy can understand. Class sizes are kept small to accommodate individual instruction for each puppy/handler team.

Course topics include, but are not limited to...

Lectures on:

Critical Periods of Canine Development (BF Skinner)
    Vaccination protocol
Diet, proper grooming, and hygiene, housetraining, crate training
Classical Conditioning vs. Operant Conditioning techniques
Dog learning theory and motivational training techniques
Confidence building, environmental stressors and more

Handler training:

Teaching basic behaviors i.e. sit, down, stand for exam, walking nicely on lead, eye contact/attention, redirection from unwanted behaviors to acceptable behaviors, and confidence building.

Handlers are taught proper communication skills with their puppies to encourage proper bond building which will in turn enhance the relationship between puppy and handler.

In addition, discussion and training are provided for any 'issues' individual pups are going through, i.e. , fear of cars, biting & nipping, house breaking, cat chasing, house manners, child and bite safety, etc.

Each session is approximately 1.5-2 hours, depending upon attendance.

Classes are held on Saturday mornings at Capital Canine.

Proof of age appropriate vaccinations required
