- Getting Started
-
- Cat shows require that an exhibitor submit an Entry form to an
Entry Clerk
to determine if the cat is qualified to show in a specific cat show.
-
- A cat must be registered with the registry sponsoring the cat
show (with
some exceptions such as kittens) before it can be accepted by the Entry
Clerk.
-
- New exhibitors should contact the Registry
and
request both the Show Rules for that Registry and the standards for the
cat or cats to be entered into the cat show.
-
- Cat shows are different from dog shows in that the cats are
"benched" in
a large specified area and then brought up to a Judges Ring, when
called,
by the cat's owner or handler (Agent). It is tradition to
decorate
the benching cage. Judging cages are never decorated.
-
- Illustrated is a typical show hall:

-
- New exhibitors should travel to a cat show and talk to people
before trying
to start without any preconception of what one needs to do at a cat
show.
Always know the show rules before coming to a first show. Show
Rule
violations can result in actions be the Show Manager or the Registry
that
could disqualify and/or suspend ones authority to show cats.
