The Walk With a crown of thorns upon his head and blood running down his cheek Jesus took the cross upon his back and started down the street Each step was filled with agony and excruciating pain But Jesus knew His destiny and what the world would gain He had a purpose for every step and a reason for every stumble And though the crowd mocked him Jesus remained humble The first step was for the homeless and those who have no bed The second he took for the teenager whose holding a gun to his head The third he took for the sick and those lame and scarred The forth he took for the alcoholic passed out at the local bar On the fifth His heart was broken for His mind was not on the tomb but on the cry of an unborn child murdered in its mother's womb The sixth step was for the drug addict with a needle in his vein The seventh was for the soldier wounded and in pain At this point His flesh grew weak and His legs began to give out The weight of the cross came down on Him and the crowd began to shout Then Simon took the cross from the LORD and started down the road Though the weight had been lifted Jesus still bore the load He walked on to Calvary where he gave His life for all This was the start of the church and every believer has a call Take up your cross and follow me are the words that Jesus said These words are found in the Bible the book that's hardly read Things have changed in the church There is alot of talk But will you follow Christ's example Will you walk the walk?
