One of the many volunteer projects of the Leon County Master Gardeners is to maintain a trial garden to demonstrate and test plants' growth in this area.

There is a shade plot and several sunny plots for ornamentals. There is also an herb garden and a vegetable garden. The trial gardens are located at Tallahassee Nurseries on Thomasville Road, and the public is encouraged to stop by and take a look.
