Welcome to Le Jardin Ombragé, a plant collector's garden. Here you will find many plants that are not normally grown in the DEEP SOUTH. Tallahassee's heat and humidity, along with its short winter dormancy season, limit us from growing many of the plants that thrive in the North and the West, but I keep trying. I have included both my successes and my failures on these web pages.
There are over 500 images on these pages, all taken from plants in my garden using a camcorder and the SNAPPY video capture program. Also, there are information sheets, references, and a plant diary of my own experience with each plant.
You can check the complete alphabetical index of more than 1000 plant records by selecting from the alphabetical list which appears below. First click on the little arrow to open the list, then click on the first letter of the plant name you are looking for. When you have selected the letter, click on "PLANTS" to open the alpha list. For those of you who insist on using common names instead of botanical names, I have added a cross reference list at the end.
(Plant list and images fully updated and expanded on June 13, 1999)

other listed flowers, or full sized images of some of those already shown. My limited space on the Web page prevents me from loading everything. I would really enjoy hearing from you so PLEASE, e-mail me at skinnerd@freenet.tlh.fl.us
