Kelly Phillips of EAA445 was present. He presented a $200 check to SPARC on behalf of EAA in appreciation of SPARC’s help at last year’s AirFest. Work is already in progress for AirFest 2006. Mark your calendars for May 20-21. You can keep up with things at www.eaa445.org.
Shirley, W4EFM, presented, on behalf of SPARC, a beautiful plaque to Paul in memory of Linda, K4LLE. We sure do miss her!
Greg, W4GJM, reported a balance of $460.47 in the treasury. From that, he paid the bill for the plaque. Our $325 insurance premium is coming due. The $200 check from EAA sure did help. Member dues are payable in January. A discussion took place as to if there should be a change in the dues structure. Ed, KC4MHM, solicited comments regarding dues. (Note – according to our by-laws, the board of directors determines the annual dues amount.)
John, KD2NL, reported that the next SPARC testing session would be January 10, 2006, 7PM at the Crawfordville Shriner’s Club. We were happy to have new ham Farley, KI4LUN present at the meeting.
Ed, KN4Y, announced upcoming contests. The CQ Worldwide DX contest will be at the end of November and 160 and 10M contests will take place in December.
A tower/generator maintenance session was held September 24th. The group fixed a cable and started the generator. The brakes and wheel bearings need to be checked on the trailer.
Discussion continues on whether we should pursue 501(3)c status. If we do, some modifications to our by-laws may be needed. The by-laws will be circulated to the membership.
Greg, Paul and David agreed to serve on the nominating committee for next year’s officers. The will present a slate and elections will be held at the November meeting. (YOU BETTER SHOW UP!)
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30.
Respectfully submitted,
Judy Miller
