Minutes of Meeting

After discussion, it was decided that a set of bylaws are needed and that Bill Harmon will prepare a strawman set of bylaws and will distribute these to all members via e-mail for discussion at the next meeting. Warner Garrison agreed to assist with development of the initial draft. It was suggested that KC4N might be of assistance as he was instrumental in developing the TARS Bylaws.

David Heupel offered a 19" relay rack for mounting the club's repeater equipment. Bob Crawford will pick up and store the rack.

The need for funding to cover costs of organization and events etc. was discussed. So far, individuals have paid for club expenses from their own funds. It was concluded that we need to define our potential financial needs, develop a budget and establish appropriate dues.

Discussed possible fundraiser activities. Possibilities discussed were holding a 50/50 at the meetings, and a cookout fundraiser.

Warner Garrison agreed to draft a letter to all participants requesting donations to get the club started.

Members present contributed a total of $130.00 toward an initial treasury.

Warner Garrison will act as interim treasurer until formal elections are held

It was pointed out that we need a phone tree to get volunteers into action in the event the club is needed to assist Emergency Management with a crisis. Warner Garrison, Bob Crawford and Linda Miller, and Bill and Karen Harmon agreed to be first tier callers.

Discussed the possibility of holding meetings at Shell Point and incorporating into the meeting a cookout. It was decided that this should be done on a once or twice a year basis.

It was decided that the regular Wednesday Night net will be rescheduled to 8:00 P.M. from the initial 9:30 time. It is hoped that this will improve participation.

It was noted that TARS is holding soldering classed on August 8, 2001 at the Tallahassee Police Department Conference Room. There will be $20.00 fee to cover costs and supplies. Interested persons should register for the class at the TARS Meeting.
