General Roleplaying and Gamemastering
- Errant Dreams One of the best general advice sites out there for roleplayers and gamemasters.
- Roleplaying Tips Frequently updated advice, mostly for gamemasters. Sometimes, I disagree with their advice. Some tips, though, like the five-room dungeon, I'm not sure how I ever lived without.
- Uncle Figgy’s Guide to Good Roleplaying and Uncle Figgy’s Guide to Good Game Mastering are essential reads. The originals have been off the web for some time, but fortunately they have been re-posted at Arkanabar's site.
Dungeons & Dragons and the d20 System
- The Hypertext d20 SRD, v 3.5 is a great reference to have if you need information for your D&D game. All of the Open Game Content released by WotC for D&D is here, in one place, in nicely-formatted and easily searchable HTML.
- Arkona is the setting my DM made for his game.
Fantasy Wargaming
- Demystifying Fantasy Wargaming, by David Trimboli, is the only other FW page I know.
Miscellaneous Stuff of Interest to Gamers
- You are reading The Order of the Stick, right?
- Kate Monk's Onomastikon has, for a long time, been a great source for gamers to use when picking fantasy character names. The original is down, but I’ve linked to one of the many mirrors available.
- The Medieval Names Archive, designed for the SCA, is another great reference for character name. Beware, though, it takes itself way too seriously.
