WHO IS CARL McCASKEY?
[Updated August 28, 2009]

A metal label from a cash register from the early part of the 20th century. Even though the name's the same, I'm not related to the McCaskeys from the cash register company.

SHORT BIO

I am a 46-year-old married, Christian man living in Tallahassee, Florida. I've been happily married for 23 years (no children) to a wonderful woman whom I met in college in the mid-1980's.

The McCaskey Brothers circa 1967
[I'm on the right!]

I have a long involvement in radio and television broadcasting which has cultivated within me a greater appreciation of many genres of music. I also have a section of my homepage dedicated to the guitars I own as well as guitars I wish I had. There is also what I call the "CD of the Moment" which is my way of highlighting a CD in my collection. I will update it from periodically as time allows.

BLOG! - BLOG! - BLOG!

Like countless other people in the internet universe, I have a blog. I've called it "The World According To Carl." Okay, so it's not the most imaginative name for a blog, but it is a good fit. Give it a visit sometime. I write about whatever inspires me at the moment which could be something about politics, music, professional wrestling, movies, etc. Leave a comment if you feel so inclined.

SPORTS FANATIC?

I am also a "sports nut" (favorite teams - MSU Bulldogs and FSU Seminoles {I attended both universities}, New Orleans Saints {NFL}, L.A. Dodgers {MLB}, Boston Celtics {NBA}, and New York Rangers {NHL}).

B.S.A.

I spent many years in the Boy Scouts of America both as a Scout and an adult volunteer. I earned the Eagle rank in 1981 and was an assistant Scoutmaster in Tallahassee from the late 80's to the mid 90's. Sad to say, my current job prevents me from having enough time to be active in Scouting. However I created a special Scouting area of my homepage promoting the Boy Scouts, Scouting in general and my personal experiences in Scouting.

FAITH

I am also a Christian. To put it simply, I am a sinner who daily falls short of God's righteousness (Romans 3:23); I accepted the Lordship of Jesus the Christ over my life in my youth. As a Christian, I have received God's freely-given gift of salvation. I am a conservative, Bible-believing Christian, strong in my faith, but I'm continually growing in Christ.

HOT STUFF

And in addition to all that I am also a life-long pepperhead (some refer to it as "chile-head" - either are applicable). What is a "pepperhead"? Basically it is a person who enjoys hot and spicy foods. This is one of the few traits I share with my brother. I have several links to various hot pepper-related sites as well as my own personal pepperhead page with reviews of many hot pepper sauces, fiery foods, cookbooks, etc. and my personal thoughts, comments and ideas on the topic of fiery foods and fiery peppers. As I am always on the search for new pepper sauces and foods to try, this area grows therefore it is a good idea to return frequently to see any new sauces have been added that might sound interesting for you to try. In fact, I would not mind swapping hot pepper stories, comments, anecdotes, recipes, etc. via e-mail at saints@nettally.com (I will try to respond as time allows). And if you would like to send me a sample of a hot sauce, salsa or condiment to review send me an e-mail. I am always open to try new hot sauces.

WHY A HOME PAGE?

Why not?

I have several reasons. The main one is I like to share my interests and hobbies with folks who might also be interested in them. The Internet provides me with a unique way of doing this. I regularly explore the Internet for web sites of interest and have created several links to sites that interest me or are related to specific topics. My homepage is also a small extension my personal interests, hobbies, etc. This homepage is mainly a hobby that was started many years ago and has grown bit by bit into its current form and size.

I have links to several sites of personal interest including sports links, weather links and various odds and ends (you never know what is there until you go look). Feel free to check them out as well and enjoy yourself.

Part of my homepage is devoted to my beliefs in Christianity. Along with the Holy Scriptures, I enjoy reading articles as well as books written by Christians for inspiration and edification.  All articles posted are either uncopyrighted or, if copyrighted, posted with permission. I've also included links to Christian sites on the web that may be of use to you.

Once you've looked around, please tell me what you think of my little home page. Send me some e-mail with your comments, questions, suggestions or just some friendly chat and if would you would not mind, please sign my questbook. I'd really appreciate it and it is always welcome.

May God bless you and keep you always,
Carl McCaskey
