Magic in Fantasy Wargaming

The people of the 11th century believed in magic, so it does exist in FW. It is not nearly as everyday or matter-of-fact as it is in D&D. There are no “wizards’ guilds.” Alehouses don't have signs saying “No spellcasting allowed.” Town governments aren’t prepared to deal with invisible thieves. Magic is subtle and powerful. The vast, vast majority of people have never seen blatant magic. But its effects are everywhere. People wear charms to ward off the evil eye. They baptize their babies quickly, lest witches steal them. Accusations of witchcraft can accompany virtually any unusual occurrence.
